“If you live by my decrees and obediently keep my commandments, I will send the rains in their seasons, the ground will yield its crops and the trees of the field their fruit. You will thresh until the grape harvest and the grape harvest will continue until planting time; you’ll have more than enough to eat and will live safe and secure in your land.

“I’ll make the country a place of peace—you’ll be able to go to sleep at night without fear (Leviticus 26:5-6)

Fear Not

(21/365 days of Fear Not)

Sometimes if I’m not careful, I lose sight of what it is I’m doing? Does that make sense?

I set my sight on the thing I want to do and I become completely absorbed by it. Some may even say obsessed with it, trying to figure out every detail of what I need to do. To the point that the details become separate from the thing itself.

It becomes exhausting.

It becomes overwhelming.

It becomes joyless.

Even if it’s something that I feel drawn to.

Even if it’s something that I feel called to do.

Even if it’s something that is part of my God-given passion and purpose in the world.

Because here’s the thing.

God doesn’t call us to do alone what He gives us to do.

God doesn’t place a dream in our heart and gifts in our soul for us to sow alone, to harvest alone, to bake alone, to eat alone.

Dreams grow better in community.

And dreams grow best in partnership with God.

Listen to His invitation to you today: if you will live by my decrees and keep my commandments, I will do the rest.

Jesus said the same thing as He walked through this world and I love the way the Message puts it:

People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. (Matthew 6:33)

Slow down.

Take a breath.

Whisper a prayer.

Sit with God.

Seek Him.

That dream your living out in your life?

Trust Him. Better yet, steep yourself in Him.

Steep yourself in Him. Isn’t that a wonderful word picture? Let the flavor of His reality and His ways enhance your moments.

Let Him meet your needs so that you can live out your passion in this world reflecting His love and His light.

As you heed Him, as you take Him at His word, you will discover that incredible supernatural peace that passes all human understanding.

You will sleep without fear because a life steeped in God is a life flavored by His peace, His provision, His purpose.
