Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. 9 This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:8-9)
(35/365 days of Fear Not)
Whatever your passion, it has its roots in God.
Whether you are an aspiring artist or entrepreneur or leader or speaker or writer or scientist or researcher or doctor or first responder or lawyer or layperson. Whatever your passion, God has experience in it.
So, when it comes to living out your passion and your God-given purpose, consider the Source as you consider your options. Seek His counsel and His wisdom. Seek His ways and His words.
Believe Him when He tells you that you have nothing to fear: Do not be afraid or discouraged because the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
If you want to succeed, you should find others who have done what you want to do. You should look for a mentor who can provide you wise counsel. You should do what those who have made it, who have succeeded at what you are pursuing, have done. Follow their lead.
Why not apply this advice also to God? To the One who gave you the dream and the passion that overflows from your heart and into your days. Into your every breath.
Study His Word.
Hide it in your heart.
Meditate on it day and night and follow its counsel.
Then you will prosper.
Then you will succeed.
It’s sounds so simple, doesn’t it? Perhaps it even sounds over simplified.
But it’s not.
It’s genuinely that simple.
And even though it is that simple, it’s not easy.
Because doing these things?
That is never quite so simple or easy.
It requires all of you. It demands everything you’ve got.
It means doing things that may seem odd or against the grain or out of step with the ways of the world.
But that’s okay.
Because you can’t stand out if you’re staying in step with the world.
And as you study God’s Book of Instruction, you’ll see that principle play out over and over and over.
God takes ordinary people and gives them extraordinary purposes and audacious dreams that rely on Him and His strength to succeed.
And that is what He wants to do with you, too.
Take that, fear.
