Welcome to Day 8 of the Write the Story! writing challenge. We are officially in week 2. So be sure to give yourself credit for whatever words you've eked out so far and for all the ways you are showing up in this challenge, whether that is at the keyboard or if it's contemplating a scene while washing dishes.

And remember, some beats none, so even if you only get a handful of minutes for some writing today, go ahead and get those words down!

Or, if you've struggled a bit with showing up, that's okay. Make today a day that you settle into a few moments of writing.

I don't know if you've ever seen Finding Nemo, but even if you haven't you are likely familiar with Dory's sing-song mantra as she and Marlin search for Marlin's missing son, Nemo--just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming, swimming, swimming.

That's how I think we should approach the week of writing that lies before us.

Don't judge the quantity or the quality. Just keep writing, just keep writing, just keep writing, writing, writing.

And that leads into this week's encouraging quote from Francis Ford Coppola:

I don’t think there’s any artist of any value

who does not doubt what they’re doing.

I find that encouraging coming from the man who created The Godfather movies as well as the 1992 version of Bram Stoker's Dracula, as well as several other commercially-successful and critically-acclaimed films.

Today is a new day. It's the start of a new week in the Write the Story! writing challenge. You've got a story to tell, so make some time, even if it's only a handful of minutes, to add something to the plot of that story.

I believe in you!
