It's Day 2 of the Write the Story! writing challenge and if you're here reading this, way to go for showing up for you and your words! As the month moves forward, I hope that you will remember writing isn't just about a finished product or even a final word count. Oh, those are awesome, but they are not the only goal I hope you will focus on during this challenge.
Today's encouragement and inspiration comes from C.S. Lewis and his book, On Writing (and Writers):
Practice, Practice, Practice
What you want is practice, practice, practice. It doesn’t matter what we write (at least this is my view) at our age, so long as we write continually as well as we can. I feel that every time I write a page either of prose or of verse, with real effort, even if it’s thrown into the fire the next minute, I am so much further on.
For me, this quote always brings me back to finding joy in the process of writing itself.
It reminds me to let every word count and not to focus only on my word count.
So, as you come to your keyboard and click & tap away or pick up that favorite pen and scribble in your notebook, remember those words count. Those words are helping shape you into the writer you were created to be.
I love that you are taking time to make that happen.
I love that you are practicing with every word you put on the page. You -- and your writing -- are better for it.
Remember: drop your daily word count in the comments so we can track your daily word count and provide you a final total when we hit November 30.
Let those words count!
